| I'm Steffanie Cruz-Reyes. I have 4 children. Cory - 20 (He is a Marine, very proud of him), Kristen - 19 (She's at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, very proud of her also), Joselyn - 11 (can't wait to start in the ring) and Haley - 8 (Is trying to convince me it's OK to have a pony in the city and we can keep it in the garage). I enjoy spending time with my family and pets. I have an ornamental pond I have filled with Koi and frogs. I enjoy gardening. I do love to fish too (I don't fish for my Koi). The girls help me out a lot with my dogs and puppies. (They love playing with the puppies and fighting over which ones are theirs) They are a big help to me in so many ways. I can't imagine my life with out them. I really enjoy showing my dogs. It is a lot of fun even when you don't win. I have met a lot of great people doing this and learned a lot about the breed. I am going to be going back to school to for nursing in 2010. It should be an experience since it's been 22 years since I have been in school. I just moved to a new home in Livonia. It will be a new start for me and the girls. The dogs have almost an acre to run on. I have a lot of space for new gardens. The girls love their new schools. They get to take the bus now. We are still moving stuff from the old house. It's amazing how much you can accumulate over 15 years. I got my first Chi in 2002. Julio bought her for me. Joselyn and her Daddy named her Minnie. She was far from the breed standard. Greyhound legs, deer head and topped out at 11 lbs. I didn't care, I thought she was beautiful and loved her anyway. Julio told me if I wanted to have the dogs I had to do it right. Get better quality dogs and start to show. I had another exhibitor, Jennifer Smolarz (Whispers Chihuahuas), help point me in the right direction. At first I didn't like her advice, I thought my dogs at that time were great. One was champion sired, how can you beat that? I found out you can. And Jennifers advice was right on. Since then I have been improving the quality of my dogs. I really love this breed. |
